For three years, Dennis worked in the real estate industry in Charleston and obtained extensive experience in property management, residential and commercial brokerage. He is a licensed real estate broker in South Carolina,a member of the SC Real Estate Marketing & Exchange Council and a member of the National Association of Real Estate Editors.
In 1980, with the pending divestiture AT&T;, Dennis began a career in the burgeoning telecommunications business with Atlanta-based Contel Corporation. In 1986, Dennis was listed in Outstanding Young Men of America acknowledging his professional achievements and civic contributions. In 1989, he was appointed Southeast regional manager for Digital Telephone Systems Division of Harris Corporation, a major multinational defense electronics manufacturer. He provided consultive telecommunications services to Fortune 500 clients like MCI and public utilities companies like Carolina Power & Light and Florida Power.
In April 1990, Dennis went out on his own to develop information products and technologies. MarkeTech Information Services was created to develop Marketing tools using advanced communications Technology, thus its name. His initial product was The Inve$tor, a real estate information resource continuously published since April 1990. In 1993, he acquired Carolina Shores Publishing, publishers of the Kiawah Island, Seabrook Island and Isle of Palms Investment Monitors. In 1994, he introduced MultiFax and Custom MultiFax services.
In 1997, Dennis introduced CARI, the Charleston Area Resort Index. The Index is reported quarterly in the Investment Monitors and is used as a guide to resort property values.
Dennis has authored numerous articles on real estate investing and not only writes about real estate but along with his wife, Maureen, is an active investor. His research is a reported quarterly in the Charleston Post Courier. His views on the resort market have also been reported in periodicals like Unique Homes and he has appeared on CNBC.
