About the Artist
Joseph J. Sacco grew up in Altamont, New York, near the historic State capitol
of Albany, N.Y. His eye for architectural detail and attraction to historical
buildings, led him to Charleston in 1984 to pursue a career in architectural
building design.
As a registered architect, Joseph left Charleston in 1991 and moved to
Washington, DC where, he has worked as an architect for the Office of the
Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon Renovation Program in Washington, D.C., and
is currently the Project Manager for the new Capitol Visitor Center's design
& construction project, the largest addition to the U.S. Capitol.
He returns periodically to Charleston to sketch the historic structures,
recording their exquisite detail with unmatched skill and painstaking precision.
